Tracie Sugo is a local Southern California artist who is the founder of Tracie Megumi Art which is known for its hand-designed art pieces. Sugo's work is centered around appreciating the natural beauty and mystique of marine life and the importance of ocean conservation. Sugo is an advocate for ocean conservation, raising awareness about various issues such as climate change, over-fishing, shark finning and. dolphin captures for the captive trade. She hopes hope to help people recognize the importance of protecting marine species and to gain an appreciation for ocean wildlife.
The goal of Sharks4Kids is to create a new generation of shark advocates through access to a dynamic range of educational materials. Curriculum, videos and activities will allow teachers to integrate shark education into their science programs on an introductory, intermediate or advanced level. Students can access coloring pages, activities and info sheets to satisfy their own curiosity about sharks. Photos and videos from scientists and conservationists bring an exciting element into the classroom and show students the beauty of the ocean. Sharks4Kids also funds first field trips and science education days for students in South Florida and The Bahamas. Our team also provides a diverse range of shark lessons to classroom and groups around the world ( in person and virtually).
Led by legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle, Mission Blue is uniting a global coalition to inspire an upwelling of public awareness, access and support for a worldwide network of marine protected areas – Hope Spots. Under Dr. Earle’s leadership, the Mission Blue team implements communications campaigns that elevate Hope Spots to the world stage through documentaries, social media, traditional media and innovative tools like ESRI's ArcGIS Online. Mission Blue embarks on regular oceanic expeditions that shed light on these vital ecosystems and build support for their protection. Mission Blue also supports the work of conservation NGOs around the world that share the mission of building public support for ocean protection. The Mission Blue alliance includes more than 250 respected ocean conservation groups and like-minded organizations.
